One of the pleasures of the N.B.A. playoffs is watching talented but complicated basketball teams continue to become who they are. The four remaining teams this year—Thunder, Warriors, Raptors, Cavaliers—have trudged or glided through level after level, inching their way toward the video-game boss that is the Finals. In doing so, two of them have undergone—and continue to undergo—a process of distillation: their characters keep clarifying. The other two, for better or worse, keep showing us who they’ve been since November.

Two years into his leadership of the National Basketball Federation of T&T (NBFTT), president Garvin Warwick has stepped down from the post. Warwick submitted his resignation letter on Monday with immediate effect, citing that personal reasons forced him to leave prematurely.

BY THE TIME he was 14, Kobe Bryant had made up his mind: His quest for basketball greatness would be a solitary journey.

Basketball is the most popular North American invented sport played around the world today. In December 1891 Canadian Dr. James Naismith invented the sport as a recreation suitable for indoor winter play in Springfield Massachusetts. The sport spread rapidly through continental North America played by both men and women. U.S. Servicemen during World War II (1939-1945) popularized the sport in many other countries. The sport debuted at the 1904 Saint Louis Olympic games but not as an official sport. The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) was formed in 1932 and the International Olympic Committee recognized basketball as one of the world’s major sports. The 1936 Berlin Olympic Games was basketball’s first official Olympic games in the men’s division and the 1974 Montreal Olympic Games for the women’s division. Basketball in Trinidad and Tobago is play at the grassroots, high school and club level. The National Basketball Federation of Trinidad and Tobago is the governing body for basketball in Trinidad and Tobago.

Kobe Bryant scored 60 points in his final game of basketball as the Los Angeles Lakers produced a stunning comeback to beat the Utah Jazz.
